design competition                      (elective)

Seize the opportunity to put your skills to the test by competing in national and international design competitions!

We’ll kick off the semester by researching open-call competitions and selecting one in accord with your career path and design goals. You’ll learn to assess design solutions in response to real design briefs, develop unique outcomes, and create effective presentation materials that clearly convey your project’s core ideas.

This course offers experience in solving real world challenges while working within given parameters. Throughout the process, we’ll identify how writing helps us become better designers and communicators, and learn how to work collaboratively to critique and enhance design solutions. From choosing a competition brief to disseminating results, evaluating your own process will ultimately help distinguish what you were successful in and areas for future improvement.

Just as students gain valuable experience in real world competition environments, so too they’re able to expose their creative work and skills to professionals in the country and around the globe!
