Welcome to the first part of a two-part course — the second being your Senior Internship —to assist you with your transition from an educational to professional environment.

Through several one on one meetings with your professor, searching for an internship that introduces you to professional practices, and guest lectures + class exercises, you’ll be able to confidently develop a portfolio that reflects your strength and interests in order to secure an internship for the Spring semester.

Upon completion of this course, you’ll have prepared a professional portfolio, resume, cover letter and website.

Learn valuable skills in order to compare and select the best internship opportunities/job prospects suited towards your strengths, weaknesses and interests, as you develop a thorough understanding of graphic design as both a profession and as a business.

You’ll also learn a bit about the different types of careers you can pursue as a graphic designer. Issues of working in a variety of design positions, and all the negotiating, estimating, and formulation that goes into RFQ’s, RFP’s and contracts will be explored.

Check out this site here to explore some companies that not only pay their interns, but will also give you a bit of an idea into the type of work environment that may best suit your current strengths and interests!
